Clos Apalta, Colchagua Valley, 2018 Red Wine, 75cL, Organic, ChileanBy Winebuyers

£129

Clos Apalta is a red wine from the Colchagua Valley, produced by Winebuyers. The wine is made from a blend of mainly Carmenere, with smaller portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vineyard, where the grapes are grown, is located at altitudes of 150-300 meters above sea level and has granite rich soils with varying proportions of clay. The vineyard was planted with mainly Carmenere of on average 80 years old. The winery is ultra modern with a 100% gravitational cellar, which means that from reception of grapes to bottling no pumping takes place, resulting in a much gentler way of processing the fruit. The Apalta Valley was discovered in 1994 by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband, Cyril de Bournet. The vineyard was acquired shortly after their discovery and has been certified organic since 2009. The winery is now run by the 7th generation of the family, Charles-Henri de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle, who took charge in 2013. Clos Apalta is available in a 75cl bottle, making it suitable for both men and women.
