Pesto comes from the Italian "Pestare" which means to pound or crush and that's basically how we produce these delicious products - this sauce dates back to Roman times. This pesto is based on a traditional recipe from Genoa where the best basil is grown and where this simple sauce originated. We have altered it slightly to make it suitable for vegetarians and vegans alike, but it still tastes just as great as our original recipe. Ideal for pasta but it is also great to mix with cream for chicken dishes or dolloped onto oven-roasted garlic and chilli aubergines.
