Dom. Trapet Pere & Fils Chambertin Grand Cru, Gevrey Chambertin, 2016 Red Wine, 75cL, Organic, BiodynamicBy Winebuyers

£595

1 x 75cl. The Trapet family have been a large landholder in northern Côte d'Or for generations. In 1993 the estate was divided to allow two dedicated winemakers to go their own way, as it turned out both into organic and biodynamic viticulture. Trapet also drew the style back from the heavily-oaked and extracted wines of previous generations to wines of elegance and purity with no lack of depth and richness. The domaine farms 18 hectares with plots in Le Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, and Chapelle-Chambertin as well as five well-sited Premier Crus. All of these wines are worth considering and deliver relative value for money at this level. The Domaine rates the top three stars by the Revue de la Vins de France. Trapet is one of the largest landowners in Chambertin with 1.90 hectares spread over three parcels. Fruit is partially destemmed before fermentation and finally aged in oak barrels, with up to 70% new oak. Trapet's wines are some of the liveliest.
