Dom. Jean-Jacques Confuron's Les Chaboeufs Premier Cru is a 2009 red wine from Nuits-Saint-Georges. The producer, Domaine JJ Confuron, was founded in 1926 through the union of vineyards from Jean Confuron and Anne-Marie Bouchard. Their granddaughter Sophie, along with her husband Alain Meunier, has run the estate since 1985, with their son Louis Meunier making the wine. The estate covers around 9.50 hectares of land, mostly on the Cote de Nuits, and has been organic since the 1990s. The Les Chaboeufs Premier Cru vineyard, owned by Domaine JJ Confuron, spans 0.48 hectares and sits slightly higher on the slope than the Les Cailles Premier Cru. The soil is rich in stone and red brown in color. The grapes are mostly destemmed and fermented traditionally with daily punch downs, followed by ageing in a relatively high proportion of new French oak barrels. Domaine JJ Confuron is known for being one of the best makers of Les Chaboeufs. This wine is available in a 75cl size and is suitable for both men and women.
